The second I said it I regretted it.

My bank and not scrutinizing the situation led to me believe that a check had bounced.
They're very good customers who I usually spend more time talking with than doing that actual work so when I told her her check bounced she was shocked and had to tell me twice how much money is in that account

My bank actually sent a photo copy back of the photograph that I used for online deposit

Took a few phone calls to get the credit card ran with offers to bring me cash or send a check but it was her husband who realized that it was a wrinkle in the check from having spent the day in my shirt pocket that caused it to not clear

Wouldn't you think the app would tell you that right away if it can't read the account number?

If it ever happens again I will use the phrase "the check did not go through"

I guess "bounced" implies they wrote a check that they knowing wrote a check without the funds to back it up.

Remove that word from your vocabulary my fellow business relationship building friends...

I worked at T-Mobile for a couple of years when I needed a break from my pops..

I had a customer give me a credit card to pay for their monthly phone bill. This was before they made it easy for people to pay online.. Anyhow, as I'm waiting for the machine to process the payment, I used to always be a jackass to co-workers playing around and whatnot..

We had to use 1 CC machine for 6 CSRs.. It was located behind our till, and our backs would be turned from the customers.. The CC machine said Declined, and without even thinking, I blurted out "Declined" as I bent my knees, throwing my head back.. Right as I finished saying it, I knew I fooked up.. I tried to save face but I just had egg on it.. "Would you like me to run it a third time?" The lady was embarrassed and quick to say she had money on that card..

I let my intrusive thoughts get the best of me..:shifty:

I also told another lady to "Shush, let me finish".. The damn broad wouldn't shut up as I was trying to explain to her how she could do the upgrade on her phones.. "Did you just shush me? I have never!! Let me speak to your manager! I don't want you to help me anymore.."

My manager is gone for the night, comes back in the morning.. Another female CSR came by and asked what was wrong.. I explained to her that she'd have to do it this way, but she wouldn't let me finish explaining it.. Well, my co-worker processes it.. We switch customers and till.. She gets a raving letter the following day, and I got reprimanded for telling a customer to "shush." I simply said the bitch wouldn't let me speak, I was over it..

It became a running joke after!

Checks that aren't funded and credit cards that are declined are handled through me here.

I always say: "There might have been a problem with the check" or "Check with your bank, you might have a security limit on your card" or something else appropriate.

I do this for two reasons:

1. We are more often the cause of the mistake than our customers are. Just like with you, Mike, we have had problems on how we scanned checks. Also, since I don't permit reading card information back out loud over the phone (security protocols), even if the card number is read again, any of our staff...or me...can put down wrong numbers.

2. Nothing good comes from humiliating a person. My father told me this at a very young age: "Never humiliate a person. You will make them your enemy for life"
